Movie Research (Murder Mystery 2)

Image
The movie that I used for research was Murder Mystery 2.   1. What conventions of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?   - A convention that I want to base our final task on is the suspense aspect of the thriller genre. Another convention that I found interesting to base our final task on was the numerous characters that were involved and how it created this mysterious atmosphere where you don't know who's involved or whether the main characters are on the right track to figuring out who did it. I also want to include the same tension builder found in this film, specifically how every time they believed they were getting close to figuring out the truth, something went wrong.   2. What conventions of the genre did the movie have that you liked?   - Something that I really liked was the slow-motion pan that was edited into the movie because it added suspense to the film. I also liked the tracking shots that they filmed because it made me feel

Movie Research: Nerve

What conventions of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?   Some conventions of the genre I chose to base my final task on that this movie has are the costumes and the shots, specifically point-of-view shots. In this movie, the characters wore a casual wardrobe for most of the movie which would make it easier on us when we begin filming to prevent as many extraneous variables as we can. This film includes multiple point-of-view shots which help the audience feel the character's suspense and create an exhilarating effect. These shots would help us create an accurate , suspenseful, exciting, and exhilarating effect on viewers.     What conventions of the genre did the movie have that you liked?   A convention of the genre that this movie had that I liked was the sound motifs. In this movie every time the characters that played the viewers in the movies went up it kept making a specific sound. This helps the film audience know what to expect whe

Movie Research: (The Craft: Legacy)

What elements (Conventions) of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this? when watching this film something that I realize was common in thrillers is when the bad guy turns good. For example when Timmy was originally a bully but as the movie progressed you were able to see the reason for why he acted that way. I also like the paranoia build up, normally when watching a thriller there is always someone you suspect or something you feel is wrong that the main character tends to be right about. What elements (Conventions) of the genre did the movie have that you like? during this movie i realized that while there is some paranoia build up the main characters often find themselves focused on something else rather than the plot. As for the effects found in the movie the movie I really like it and I feel like it showed more realism than the first Craft movie. The change in costume I really likes as well. When watching this movie from start to finish you could really see

Genre Decision

Image
The opening sequence of the film will be thriller! When coming to this decision we decided to go in the opposite way of our last project. At first we each did deep research on possible genre's that we wanted to do which includes comedy, thriller, and comedy. Then we consulted each other on each genre idea and possible pitch ideas that could go with each genre. We also took into consideration setting, props, and possible actors. After careful consideration we decided on thriller since we all collectively wanted to do.

Genre Research

Hello its your favorite blogger! today I researched the genre horror. To begin with, common camera angles that I noticed were frequent in horror movies were Close-ups, eye-level shots, point-of-view shots, tracking shots, two-shots, three-shots, and low angles. These common camera angles helped me feel as if I were experiencing these films in real life by putting me in the character's shoes. This also helped create suspense and fear. Moving on, the common costume I analyzed was casual clothes, typically dark clothes and sometimes covered in fake blood. Other than the costumes I noticed that in most of the scenes, there was dark-colored lighting, spotlights, and shadows. This helped create suspense because of the mystery of what is behind the things the viewer cannot see. In horror movies, the setting is typically somewhere abandoned or a home. For props, they typically use weapons such as knives and torture devices to create the gore of the horror. Furthermore, common editing I fo

Hello its your favorite blogger! Today I did some research on the different elements that is found within the thriller genre. High angles often give the viewer the feeling of vulnerability and powerlessness. Close up can show detail on the characters reactions Tracking shot - are used to make the character look like they are being followed or watched Reverse shots are used to show what the character sees and their reactions in this case it would be used to build up suspense long shots - can often show the atmosphere that is found in the movie whether it be scary or bustling. Low angle - can show how powerful and scary the bad guy is zoom shots - gives dramatic effect and builds suspense point of view shot - helps the audience experience what the character sees and feels over the shoulder shot - shows what h=the character sees often used mirror or reflection scenes Mis-en-scene Make up - Smudged makeup (often shows fear within the character) Prosthetic make up - often found on the villa

Hello World,   The genre that I researched was comedy. Common camera angles that I noticed often in comedy movies were pan, tilt, zoom in and out, lots of high angles and low angles, tracking, medium close up , close up , and more. However, the camera angle that I saw the most was at eye level. This angle made me feel more connected with the character and understand the feeling/vibe that the person in the film is experiencing at that exact moment. A huge thing that I noticed was the costumes that the people wore in the film. Their costumes were related to a holiday that was occurring at the time that the film was taking place, the age of the characters, which setting they were in whether it was at work or playing a sport, etc. This also applied to the props as well, everything correlated with what they were doing then, what activities they were participating in, etc. While I was doing some research, I didn't see much editing other than one of the movies that I watched called

Our Pitch

Image
Hello World,   Pitch A: A group of friends playing a game with the little brother, but what does he see that they don't ?   Pitch B: The student begins to receive an overbearing amount of notes and gifts in her locker, but it's different from who she expected.   Discuss Pitch A: This pitch would be fun to execute because it's something different than what is normally seen in movies. We would also be interested in doing this pitch because our film's small details , like the roles of the siblings, were resolved. We also enjoyed how at the end of the film the tension was broken. Although some ideal locations may not allow filming. Also, it would be difficult to get multiple actors to be a part of our film.   Discuss Pitch B: This pitch would be interesting to bring to life to show the progression of the gifts and how they become overwhelming throughout the film . Although we would not be able to get the amount of props needed for our film. Our editing process woul

Hey Blog its me Shadae I finished my first project last week and I am excited to start something new! Today I will be starting on a project with two of my friends who are also my classmates. I am working with Madelyn and Giovanna and have known them for around 1-2 years each. I met Giovanna in freshman year in my study hall and I met Madelyn last year in my English class.  There are many reasons as to why I wanted to work with them on this project. One of the main reason I want to work with them is because last year when we all shared a class we would always do group projects  and activities together. Which lets me know that while we are doing this project we will be able to work effectively. I also think that as we have all done so many projects together that I have firm understanding of their strengths and weakness when it comes on to certain aspects of the  project. They both are very goal orientated, organized, and hard workers which is one of the reasons I wanted to work with t
