Production Blog: Final Task
Hey guys, it's you favorite blogger coming in with a new blog!
Today I began the search for the background song for the opening sequence of the film. I started this journey on one of the most well -known searching platforms which in other words mean google.
When looking for a song I had to take into consideration the civil law on copyright and the best way to avoid it. So, before I began my search, I made sure to read up on copyright situations that may occur with using a song. I had to make sure I knew exactly what it was I would come up against. I did some research on what the difference was between a royalty - free song, a public domain song, and regular song and how it related to copyright. On my search I found out what a public domain song was and how it related to copyright. After furthering my search on this subject I decided it would be best to do a public domain song. This was because it didn't come with as many legal responsibilities when dealing with copyright.
So, as I began my search, I looked for some of the most popular mystery/suspenseful songs. Seeing as the film consisted of a script and characters talking it wouldn't make sense to use a song that of course had lyrics in it. So, I searched for non- lyric songs that would give the viewer a sense of anxiety and doom. This was so it could feed into our genre of mystery and suspense and give the viewer an idea for what our film is about. This shortened down the search a lot, but I still needed to find a song that was used for public domain.
So, as I searched up some songs an artist kept popping up, his name was David Fesliyan. I found his website which was called Fesliyan Studios, this is where I found dozens of songs that fit the chosen genre. Of course before using any of these songs, I made sure to read his policy on the usage of these songs. On his site it is said that anyone can use his songs as long as it is not for commercial use or monetizing if this is not the case than anyone can use his songs. So, after browsing some of his songs I settled on the song "Too Crazy" by Daniel Fesliyan.
